By submitting to Threads & Currents, you agree to the following terms:

  • You and/or your group are the original authors of your submitted work.
  • Explicit, written consent must be obtained for all original data collection and subsequent identifying references to individuals, groups, and/or organizations to be publicly identified in the Journal. 
  • All third-party content in the submission conforms to the Fair Dealing exception in the Canadian Copyright (which you can learn more about here), otherwise you must provide copies of your copyright permission. 
  • Threads & Currents reserves the right to withdraw your work from publication at any stage of the editing process if academic dishonesty is discovered. 
  • Threads & Currents reserves the right to reject work the editorial team deems hateful as part of our zero-tolerance policy. This would encompass work deemed sexist, racist, classist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, ageist, or any other form of discrimination and/or prejudice.  

In turn, Threads & Currents agrees to the following terms:

  • The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.  
  • All submitted work will be reviewed through a double-blind review process (which you can read about here)
  • The author(s) may request to take down their work at any point after publishing (following our take-down policies here)
  • The author (s) retain copyright of their publications and are permitted to publish the work in whole or part elsewhere, contingent on granting the right of first publication to T&C, sending written permission from all involved authors to threadsandcurrents@gmail.com, and including the following publishers statement:
    • “This [work] was originally published by Threads & Currents: A Journal of Communication & Culture by Toronto Metropolitan University and York University’s joint Communication & Culture program. The original article is available to read at: [link to article].”
